IAN SPROULE LEGACY INQUEST

IAN SPROULE LEGACY INQUEST

McAtamney Solicitors represent the family of Ian Sproule. Ian was 23 years old when he was murdered by the IRA outside his Castlederg home in 1991. Controversy surrounded the death after the IRA revealed they possessed a An Garda Siochana sighting document containing Ian's personal details and photograph. The family long suspected Garda collusion in the murder and have campaigned for many years to secure a fresh investigation. We were instructed by them and presented a dossier to the Attorney General for N Ireland requesting that a new Inquest, compliant with Article 2 of the ECHR, be held. In August 2023, as a result of our representations, the Attorney General directed that a new Inquest take place, to establish a meaningful account of the circumstances of the death and address rumour and suspicion.
